The changing shape of home has been on my mind often the last year, as three of my children have moved away for school, the beginning of their own journey to leave and return, and ultimately to create their own home. So I really appreciate this, Carol!
I’ve read For the Children’s Sake several times but have never read this one! I’ve just ordered it. Happy to read along! And thank you for the mention, too!
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Kim. It's an unusual book in many ways & I've always appreciated her heart for the outsider and how we can use our homes to embrace not just friends but the lonely & less privileged.
Hi Anna, I hope you can follow along with FTFS. I've liked everything I've read by Edith Wharton & G of the M is one of my favourites. I wasn't expecting her thoughts on parenting & education to come up in the context of this novel.
What interesting timing that The Salt Path became available finally at my library, the day after you posted. I have read this one by Susan several times, and each time my home life looks different, so it always brings new insights and encouragement. She has such a compassionate approach to life and to the needs of everyone.

''The changing shape of home'' - oh yes! My husband & I have spent the last couple of months discussing this and how we adapt to it.
Great to have you read along! It's been a while since I read Hidden Art. Enjoy your slow read of that.
My reading theme for this year is “home” and I’ve been eyeing this book so seems like perfect timing! Enjoyed reading this post. 💗

Hoping to follow along with this series and finally read this book! That Wharton book looks interesting, too - might try the audiobook soon.

Hi Cate, it's a good book to revisit in different seasons of life. x
