So beautifully put Carol! Watching birds really brings out the heart in me too. We simply must pay you a visit to delight in these smaller birds.
This post reminds me of St Therese of the Little Child Jesus who is quoted as saying “Sufferings gladly borne for others convert more people than sermons.”
Thanks, Maria. We haven't had any more visits from the rufous fantails, but there are lots of other avian visitors. Would be lovely to have you visit! The water dragons are out & about now. X
I love that you have a Common Place Quarterly column! And I love the name of it, too.
I like to think that I am naturally skeptical of convenient things (my love of the very much inconvenient handwritten letter comes to mind), but when I’m being completely honest, I am all-too-prone to chose what is convenient over what is best. This is hardest in my closest relationships (my husband and my children) when I am fatigued and worn out. Thank you for the reminder that fortitude is a virtue to seek out and cultivate, always.

That is a wonderful quote!

It definitely requires more effort now than it used to for me! Fatigue - yes, definitely doesn't aid us.
Maria's quotation is a good one to keep in the heart:
“Sufferings gladly borne for others convert more people than sermons.”
