What do you do when you say you “do science?” That is an area I have not been strong in and I want to improve on it!

Hi Shannon, that was with my 10 & 8 yr old boys. At that time I was using this:

I chose this because it is very hands-on but easy to use. It covers many areas and has lots of ideas for further study.

The oldest 2 were doing high school chemistry & biology and my 12 yr old daughter was working through an experiment book & did science experiments with the two boys each week. The 5 yr old would have joined in from time to time. In the younger years nature study was part of our science studies.

I've used a lot of narrative science books as read alouds & had them keep nature & science notebooks. Hope that answers your questions.

It’s a lot of ebb & flow but nothing stays the same for too long, which is good but not so good, at the same time. Our children get to see how we react to interruptions & crises and I think knowing that helped me to get my act together. 😊

All the talk about schools being the way to get kids to experience the real world is pretty stupid when you think of it. The school world is insular.
